FTSA, have a fleet of 14 fully refrigerated vehicles, based from Far North Queensland, through to South East Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. FTSA has the capacity to service clients both within their state, together with interstate transfers. Transfers are also conducted for Tasmania and the Northern Territory. FTSA assists with arranging Flights to and from Western Australia. FTSA are also able to assist with collection from Airports and deliver direct to your Funeral Home as required.

With Australia Post becoming more and more reluctant in the postage of loved ones ashes, Funeral Transfer Services of Australia are now offering an additional service where we repatriate ashes as part of our everyday transfers for Funeral Homes across the state and interstate as required. How much does repatriation cost?

Costs are calculated on the distance required to travel for each repatriation.  Funeral Transfer Services are transparent in quotations, with no hidden charges.

How soon will my loved one be home?

Depending on the location of your loved one Funeral Transfer Services have a large fleet of vehicles located throughout metropolitan and regional Queensland, NSW, Victoria, Northern Territory and South Australia.

FTSA will endeavour to make the repatriation as efficiently and seamlessly as possible. Once details have been provided, our office can supply an estimated timeframe in getting loved ones home.

What about insurance?

Many Travel Insurance policies include an amount for repatriation should death occur away from home including certain Pre-Paid Funeral contracts.

What happens when an Australian passes away overseas?

The death of an Australian overseas can involve complications in organising the funeral, repatriation and other administrative arrangements and formalities. A locally-based Funeral Director of your choice can assist you if a death occurs anywhere overseas.

All enquiries, including required documentation, related to repatriation of deceased persons into Australia, regardless of nationality, (including Australian), should be made to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

When a death occurs interstate.

Once the Cause of Death Certificate, or a Coroners Order has been issued, Funeral Transfer Services of Australia will be able to repatriate the Deceased from the place of death to the Funeral Home appointed by the Deceased’s family.

What do I do first?

If the Deceased person has passed away in a Hospital, and a Doctor has issued a Cause of Death Certificate, then Funeral Transfer Services of Australia will be able to repatriate the Deceased directly from the hospital to the Funeral Home engaged by the family of the Deceased.

Should circumstances occur that the Coroners Court is involved, then it is advisable to contact your preferred Funeral Director who will attend to the necessary correspondence. Once a Coroners Order for Release has been issued, then Repatriation can be made.

Is embalming necessary?

Embalming is required if the body is to be repatriated overseas, or to another part of Australia by air transport. This is necessary for infection control and preservation of the body. Full embalming is obligatory for repatriation to many countries, as is the use of a zinc-lined coffin or metal casket.
